lyrics
It's been a tough year, harder than most, and it's not half over.
It's been a challenge to see the good in all the shitty situations.
There's been some weight on my shoulders and on my back,
and sometimes I don't handle it well.
So I've been going to my meeting, and I've been sharing,
even when I really didn't want to.
I was a man
of the people,
but the people didn't know it.
It left me so confused,
and lacking direction.
So I focused on myself
and made sure I was better.
Not worse, first things first,
All I had is
Not bad.
I remember all the slogans and all the quotes
from good folks over the years.
Whether Wally in Cambridge, or David,
the message was impossibly clear.
If you do things the way we've done them,
and take suggestions,
you'll find the way out of here.
I was a man
of the people,
but the people got going.
I wandered off the range
and kept on getting wetter.
I worked on my health,
physical and mental.
How it works, and it works.
All I had is
Not bad.
And now it's ten years, since the last time I felt that way.
One day at a time.
I know I'm lucky, I'm in the front row of a lot of shows,
with a different kind of ending.
It isn't easy, but it's simple,
a lot of folks, over overcomplicate it.
If I'm speaking from my heart and my experience,
I get to keep on going.
There was a time in Delray,
a passing, brief moment of clarity and grace,
when I could see the future.
It looked nothing like this,
and that's a pretty good reminder
of my mind playing tricks.
I was a man
of the people,
but the people didn't know it.
And I wandered off the range;
I thought I could see the future.
It looked nothing like this.
It looked nothing like this.
It's all I had,
It's not bad.
